Call it Archipelago:
A series of tropical, volcanic islands with chest-high and deeper water between them!
Sandy beaches, palm trees and Battlemechs!

I liked them, actually. Were cool maps.

I envision stealthy underwater movements, storming beaches from a blue-green ocean, a mild ambient temperature (34 C) with some craters and lava flow canyons and densely forested mountain slopes.
It'd be a mix of temperatures, because you'd get the cooling effect when in the water, moderate air temperature and hot lava at the high spots and trenches.
Would blend ranged and brawling because you could shoot across from one island to another but would have plenty of hidden spaces and cover to move up close.
I think it'd be awesome!

This concern is probably why we don't have any maps with underwater parts yet.

Chest high... for Atlas or Locust?

10 Pirates Banes running for enemy cap underwater with ECM while few dires play bait somewhere else, that would be awesome

Split the difference: Chest high for, Hellbringer? Don't forget "and deeper"!
There's plenty of precedent for 'Mechs underwater in Battletech and previous MechWarrior games. Besides, if they can fight in a vacuum, surely a bit of water pressure it no thing to overcome!

It's not the pressure or vacuum I'm worried about. It's about weapon mechanics in this game meaning water will cut a lot of damage done.
Vacuum a lot more friendlier for missiles, ballistics and lazors than water

because variety of conditions is best for game play. And Underwater map would have some AWESOME challenges.

Imagine seeing an Atlas emerge from the water with the rest of the assault lance.
Suprise suprise!

Only need to add LRT's and SRT's to the game for that
easy enough to add, I would think.
Technically, PPCs and ballistics would be all but useless, and lasers would have range and damage nerfed, too.
But hey.... I mean they only bill this as a "thinking man's shooter" (yeah, I know, I know)... be a shame if people actually had to think (judging by the ADHD butthurt whinging the CoD kiddies are making about the new map... which is a glorious map...for thinkers and tacticians..... not so much for solo rambos)

However I realize that there are a lot of technical hurdles to do something like this and its not likely to happen any time soon. Would still like to see it happen though.

And JJ are non-functional under water as well. So there is that...
P.S. Can we get a clarification please. Only I.S. SHS's get the submerged bonus right? Until water is deep enough to cover the upper torso, you can't put I.S. DHS's in Legs, well save for the Clan DHS's...
Which begs the question. Do Clans Mechs get the "submerged" bonus on their DHS's?

Good point about the JJs, but I don't see it as a problem. Rather, I see that as a feature (for variety).
I should think that Clan DHS would get the cooling bonus. If they don't its ridiculous.
